Personal Rapid Transport System

India has been accelerating the adoption of state-of-art technology solutions. A ULTra Fairwood initiative for implementing Personal Rapid Transit System (PRT) will be one of the first in the country.

ULTra PRT and Fairwood are in the process of bringing clean & green transport systems to Indian cities, in order to tackle the enormous problems in urban mobility.

The Personal Rapid Transport (PRT) – developed by our ULTra PRT, UK – is a revolutionary new transportation system, which has been operationalized in London (Heathrow airport) after 20 years of development. PRT is based on 4-6 seater battery powered driverless vehicle which use rubber wheels running on an elevated guide way.The system is a high-capacity, low-cost, and environmentally sound option, and is in the process of being designed for application in specific Indian cities.

It is a transport system facilitating the “last mile connectivity”

a)         Integrates with existing transport systems
b)         Provide feeder services to any mass transport system: Last Mile Connectivity
c)         Small turning radius, allowing us to make complicated networks which can be placed in congested places
d)         Demand responsive: Provides on demand non-stop  journeys and excellent operational flexibility
e)         Waiting time at stations is negligible
f)          Headway of 3 seconds enables high density carriage of 6,000 phpdt (persons/hour/direction)
g)         Automated pods run on dedicated Guideway
h)         Flexible routing allowing for closer point-to-point travel (direct to destination)
i)          No intermediate stops: Stations located on side tracks to allow vehicles to bypass them as required
j)          PRT stations can be integrated into buildings facilitating direct entry into malls, hotels, offices.

This exciting technology will change the definition of urban mobility with innovative applications.
